Roots of love: forgiving the one who hurt you
Aug 28, 2021There's a gem of a verse tucked away that is such a blessing when you take time to take time. I've been taking time these days to ponder it, and I've just been so blessed.
For context: Jesus just prayed for the upcoming cup of His separation from God to be taken away from Him, and His request was denied. Judas just kissed Him. Jesus is being arrested by the soldiers (Luke 22:47-51). And now, our moment:
When those around Him saw what was going to happen, they asked, “Lord, should we strike with the sword?” Then one of them struck the high priest’s slave and cut off his right ear. But Jesus responded, “No more of this!” And touching his ear, He healed him.
Jesus healed the servant’s ear.
Here's what took my breath away. It's the only miracle performed on a fresh wound, and the only miracle Jesus performed on someone who was an avowed enemy.
Heal others, forgive them, so that you will not role-model anything but good and forgiveness. Don’t be a stumbling block. Be a source of blessing.
